Streetlight is a place that every youth in Calgary who faces poverty gets a chance to embrace their God given future.  StreetLight’s vision was born in October 1992 with a goal to reach street orientated and sexually exploited youth (ages 12-24). Most of our youth are “throw-a-ways” and are deeply hurt. They are struggling to survive.

StreetLight uses several avenues to reach into vulnerable communities including: a mobile drop-in centre, outreach, mentorship and presence.   Our Mobile Drop In Center goes into the downtown core and high-risk Calgary neighbourhood’s to intentionally serve youth and build mentorship relationships. Staff and volunteers work directly on the frontlines with youth impacted by housing, food and relational insecurities who are at the verge of entering street life or already entrenched, and youth who are struggling through the reality of human trafficking.  Streetlight also operates two 24/7 crisis lines for youth. We are a bridge between youth and greater community of agencies, law enforcement, and the justice system, working to advocate on behalf of youth.  Along the way, our teams continue to be a positive presence and work to build a supportive community around each individual youth as we help them pursue their potential and whole health: physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and relationally.

Core Values:

We value the health of the whole person: relationally, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

We strive to create a community where all are safe and accepted.

We see the hope and potential in each young person.

We recognize that mentorship and safe adult relationships are vital to development.

We believe that each young person is entrusted to us to love and invest in.

We recognize the need to innovate and adjust what we do to match changing needs with purpose, creativity, and excellence.

Together, we are on a mission to see lives changed and hope restored.
