We are looking for ladies (only) to come along side young moms and their children, or young expectant moms as they go through their pregnancy. Our goal is to help support, encourage and do this piece of life together. We aim to connect one on one with young moms and to also provide fun, interactive group gatherings as well as tangible training. We are here to help moms journey through motherhood, and young pregnant women, best care for themselves and their unborn child.
StreetLight is a mobile drop-in centre that goes into the downtown core on Monday and Thursday evenings, and into the community of Bowness on Tuesday nights. If connecting with Calgary's homeless youth is something that has been your heart's desire, then StreetLight might be the place for you! Our heart is to be much more than a soup kitchen. We are looking for individuals who are willing to be intentional about coming alongside youth in tangible ways and journeying with them as solid life mentors.
StreetLight’s fifth-wheel trailer is essential for reaching street youth, so we are also always in need of volunteer drivers who have their air brake endorsement and experience driving a big rig. Drivers are invited but are not required to be present for the duration of the evening.
Youth Guidance provides at-risk and minority youth with mentorship and relational support. These youth are often experiencing problems at home, at school, or with the law, and many of these young people have little or no relational support. The majority of these youth are coming from immigrant families, minority groups, and high crime neighbourhoods. Youth Guidance is looking for volunteers who are excited about participating in team building activities, engaging youth in meaningful discussions, and building mentorship relationships based on trust and personal guidance. In addition, Youth Guidance offers weekly community soccer programs and an annual hockey camp, which would be a great fit for volunteers who are passionate about mentoring youth through sport.
Campus Life welcomes those who are gifted at public speaking for youth rallies, and who are available during the daytime to help run Gym Blast, which is a large high-energy school assembly. Most of Campus Life's ministry is done through these assemblies during school hours and also through coaching after-school programs and sports.
Worth Auto is a unique work experience program for at-risk youth that operates an auto-mechanic shop. If you are good with mechanics and have a desire to come in and mentor young men while working away on a vehicle, or if you have the time and ability to help pick up donated vehicles from around the community, Worth Auto would love to have you join their team.
